Colazione salata: le idee più sfiziose e salutari!

Savory breakfast: the tastiest and healthiest ideas!

We've been told countless times, in every possible way: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's the moment when we introduce the necessary foods into our bodies to have the energy to face the beginning of our day. Despite the all-Italian habit of having a sweet breakfast, some people prefer something savory and delicious for their first meal, and it's certainly a choice that can be good for the body.
So here are some savory breakfast ideas that will tantalize your taste buds and be both healthy and balanced at the same time.

Parmesan for breakfast: yes, please!

Parmesan with apples

Our first savory suggestion is to try pairing Parmigiano Reggiano with apples. And if you want to sweeten the situation a little, you can use honey. Here's how you could structure your breakfast to make it perfectly balanced:

  • 20g of Parmigiano Reggiano: this will give you an excellent supply of calcium, phosphorus, and protein, and will provide 17% of your daily saturated fat requirement.
  • An apple: they also call it the fruit of health, and for good reason. It provides sugars, vitamins, mineral salts, fiber, and only 79.5 kcal. Furthermore, the sugars present in fruit are less problematic for the body compared to refined or artificial sugars found in other products.
  • A drizzle of acacia honey: excellent for sweetening the strong notes of Parmesan and for helping with sugar intake.

An important clarification about Parmigiano Reggiano: it has a high satiating power, and is therefore an excellent ally for those who have breakfast early and know they will have to wait several hours for lunch.

Wholemeal bread and Parmesan

Another simple and delicious idea: just put a few slices of wholemeal or multi-grain bread in the toaster, then season it with Parmigiano Reggiano (or, if you prefer, even a soft cheese like stracchino) and almond slivers: the cheese will give you a good supply of protein, while the almonds will replenish your body with fiber, potassium, and energy.

Puff pastries with pears and Parmesan

If you're feeling more adventurous and want to get busy in the kitchen, you could try making puff pastries with pears and Parmesan. It's not a difficult preparation, and we assure you that once you've tasted them, you'll have no doubt that the time spent preparing them was well invested.

  • Roll out the puff pastry, and cut it into rectangles that are not too large: they should serve as the base for a single-serving puff pastry.
  • Place the rectangles well spaced out on a baking tray appropriately covered with lightly oiled parchment paper.
  • Place 3 thinly sliced pear slices on each puff pastry. Please note: do not remove the peel, which is rich in antioxidants! Just make sure you have washed the pears well before slicing them.
  • Beat an egg yolk with 4 tablespoons of milk, and brush the pears.
  • Complete the puff pastries with a dusting of grated Parmigiano Reggiano and bake in the oven at 200°. You'll know they're ready when they have a slightly golden color.

Now that we've given you some ideas, all you have to do is get some good Parmigiano Reggiano and try an alternative breakfast!
